The Fool (in this case from the Mythic Tarot) is the first card in the Major Arcana, and one of the key cards to understanding the Tarot journey

The Fool is anything but foolish most of the time. Like all of us, he has his moments of silliness, However, this card represents a person who is essentially quite sensible.

The journey through the essential happenings of life begin with this card, that in most card sets is numbered ‘0’ (zero). Holding only what can be carried, he begins the journey through life, to explore the excitment and stimulation that life itself offers to us all.

The divinatory meaning of ‘the Fool’

Beginning a new journey, starting a new phase in your life, heading off in new directions, leaving the past behind, not taking baggage with you, not being too cautious about the direction in which you travel, being open to new things and ideas. The Fool is often seen accompanied by a dog, who tries to attract his attention as he steps over a ledge. It may be that he is going to stumble. It may also be warning about the dangers of being too easy going and distracted by the new.
